What is Registered Massage Therapy?

The Massage Therapy Act, 1991, is the provincial legislation for Massage Therapy in Ontario, that defines the practice of Massage Therapy as “the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.”

RMTs assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints of the body, mostly by hands-on manipulation.

Assessment and treatment can include orthopaedic and neurological testing, soft tissue manipulation, hydrotherapy, remedial exercise programs and client education programs.

Treatment Style

As a Barrie RMT, I use a wide range of techniques - Swedish, Connective Tissue, Myofascial, Stretching, PNF, Pin and Stretch, "Trigger Point", "Deep Tissue", and more.

Each session is individualized to you on that day. I will ask questions and for your guidance. Pressure can be anywhere from mild to spicy, relaxation to therapeutic; I am able to adapt to what you need.

Treatment can be done clothed (wear comfortable clothing) or unclothed and draped professionally.

See FAQs for more information or contact me if you have any questions.
